overall personality • Samson is much like his name-sake- a strong, gigantuous man. He is not only physically disarming but mentally he puts up quite a fight. Stubborn and blunt, Sam speaks whatever is on his mind, even if it might not be the nicest thing to say. He speaks the truth and this can often times hurt other people's feelings. However, a good side of Sam is that he is empathetic and can tell when he's done this. He tends to be softer spoken than he was back when he was still a plain ole demigod, not acting out as much since he got the curse of the wolf. He doesn't intentionally mean to hurt anyone, in fact, that's one thing he's been (recently) trying hard not to do for fear of giving them the curse too. He's got a lot of resentment to the wolf that bit him and thinks his father has disowned him because of it- since he's lost his abilities and everything.

overall history • Samson Banks was born to April Banks, a widowed woman, and his father Ares, who at that time, was posing as a police officer. They met in the hospital after Ares got hit by a gunshot wound. It was there that April found out what he was after seeing him heal himself in the operating room and try to leave. She kept his secret and though she was not a tough woman by any means, Ares felt attracted to her and asked her to dinner. The two became short-lived lovers before Ares disappeared, moving on to another pursuit. April understood, being the god of war and all, she bid him farewell and was happy to have a child be born to her, a feat her and her late husband could never achieve. And so, Samson was born and the two grew up in a lower-middle class section of New York City.

Sam was eleven when he met his first monster. It was at the fair, with one of the ride attendants. They had tried to break the ride down and take off with him but Sam was quick on his feet and used his strength to keep the ride from spiraling out of control while taking care of the monster. He came home that day telling his mom all about it, she then knew that it was time for him to be introduced to Camp Half Blood.

When Sam got to camp he was weary and not quick to make friends. He soon got accustomed to everything and started to enjoy his time with his half-siblings. During the school season he went back to the real world but he always enjoyed coming back to camp, loving the training and exertion.

It was during a quest when he turned 22 that he met his first real challenge. He and two others had gone out on a short quest to retrieve a missing demigod. When they found the demigod they saw they had been captured by two giants. Fighting the giants was easy but it was the pet they had that really gave him trouble- an alpha werewolf.

Thinking he could handle it, Samson tried to run the werewolf off but it charged at him headlong, biting him on the shoulder. It took his friends to save him and he was brought back to camp, the healers attempting to extract the venom of the werewolf bite but it was no used. It was too late.

Ever since the bite took him, Samson has not been the same. He is rougher and more prone to out bursts, treating campers with less sympathy and working them hard. As a counselor he's one of the best but one of the most feared. It has a lot to do with his curse, which he keeps to himself unless other people ask. It isn't like they don't already know though.
